Las Vegas, NV — The 13th edition of Health Care Headliners recognized Dr. Michael G. Wood, MountainView Hospital Cardiovascular & Thoracic surgeon and medical director.
Health Care Headliners annually introduces selected honorees who are making a big difference in local healthcare. Nominations include highly qualified people who have helped many of the Las Vegas community members. Awards are presented in categories that cover a wide range of roles in the healthcare industry including research/scientist, community outreach, manager/administrator, volunteer, physician, emergency services, nursing, education, innovation and lifetime achievement. Honorees include doctors, scientists, professors and volunteers.
Dr. Wood formed a dedicated team of cardiothoracic surgeons at MountainView Hospital in 2012 to focus on quality care and patient satisfaction when it comes to heart patients. Recently, Dr. Wood and a surgical team completed a mitral aortic valve replacement, the first such procedure in Nevada.
"We are very pleased Dr. Wood and his achievements are being recognized through Health Care Headliners," said Jeremy Bradshaw, MountainView Hospital Chief Executive Officer. "His focus and priority are truly on his patients and quality outcomes that result in long-term positive results."
MountainView Hospital has been recognized by Consumer Reports magazine for success in heart surgery as the only Nevada hospital alongside 62 other hospitals nationwide. In addition, MountainView Hospital has twice earned a distinguished three-star rating from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons for its patient care and outcomes in isolated coronary artery bypass grafting procedures. The three-star rating denotes the highest category of quality, and places MountainView Hospital among the elite for heart bypass surgery in the United States and Canada.
