Graduate Medical Education at Sunrise Health

Sunrise Health is part of the HCA Healthcare Family

The nation's leading provider of quality, patient-centered care is also the leader in graduate medical education (GME). From the moment a graduate joins an HCA Healthcare residency or fellowship, they are mentored by a dynamic network of physicians who are focused on teaching them to provide the exceptional, compassionate care our patients deserve. These programs are led by an accomplished faculty, set under rigorous standards, and tailored to provide extensive training for the next generation of physician leaders.

About us

Through the Sunrise Health Graduate Medical Education Consortium, we have demonstrated excellence in every aspect of our institution and practices. From in-depth planning to the execution of a state-of-the-art graduate medical education program that fits the needs of our residents, we set the standard high for clinical research and educational excellence.

Our Residency Program benefits from strong institutional support and commitment, while our affiliation with the University of Nevada - School of Medicine (UNSOM) allows our residents access to the Savitt Medical Library and catalogue of online journals.

We also offer a world class simulation program that promotes sharing of clinical knowledge and skills across disciplines and practitioner populations to improve the quality and safety of patient care. The MountainView Hospital Simulation Center offers medical students, nurses, interns, residents and hospital clinical staff the opportunity to train in a virtual patient care environment using simulated patients and sophisticated technology.

The center contains overhead cameras that tape the medical team's actions, so leaders can provide feedback after the simulated training. The MVHSC plays a key role in maintaining patient safety and ensuring the operational readiness of all hospital staff.

Please review our available programs below and contact MountainView Hospital's Graduate Medical Education Program office for more information on our in-depth residency training experience in downtown Las Vegas.

The MVHSC is comprised of 2 fully equipped patient rooms. Rooms can be staged for any number of situations using standardized patients as well as high fidelity manikins. Both rooms utilize state of the art video and audio recording. The simulation suite also has a skills lab for task and procedural training, a conference debriefing room with audio visual capabilities for use in debriefing as well as a control room to centralize simulation production.

FAQs

Yes, Sunrise Health Graduate Medical Education Consortium’s residency programs are fully accredited by the ACGME.

The Program Directors review all the applications to each respective program and evaluates the applicants’ overall skills and professional achievements; a decision to invite a candidate for an interview is based on several factors, not only USMLE scores.

Our clinic, MountainView Medical Associates, is located in our 2880 Medical Office building, conveniently located next to the hospital.

All residents are required to conduct scholarly activity; research, QI or a case report is required for graduation. We have a dedicated Research Director whose role is to help develop research projects that align with each resident's particular area of interest. In addition, residents are required to participate in a QI project during their training.
