MountainView Hospital welcomes new cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Nelly P. Chow

MountainView Hospital welcomes Dr. Nelly P. Chow, a highly-trained cardiothoracic surgeon to MountainView Hospital and its patient clinic, Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery Associates.

Dr. Chow brings a wealth of experience to Las Vegas, having completed an advanced Thoracic Surgery Fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Health Systems and a General Surgery Residency at the Sunrise Health Graduate Medical Education Consortium, based at MountainView Hospital.

Dr. Chow is recognized for her expertise in minimally invasive thoracic surgery, including robotic procedures for lung cancer resection and mediastinal mass removal, and for her work in hyperhidrosis management. Her commitment to patient care is demonstrated through her active participation in cutting-edge research, including her recent publication on robotic resection of large anterior mediastinal masses.

“Dr. Chow’s ability to deliver advanced care in thoracic oncology and cardiothoracic surgery, combined with her commitment to minimizing patient recovery times and enhancing surgical outcomes, makes her a welcome addition to MountainView,” said Hiral Patel, MountainView Hospital Chief Executive Officer. “We are happy that Dr. Chow has returned to Las Vegas following her fellowship training to care for our patients and the community.”

Dr. Chow attended UC Berkeley for her undergraduate degree and Western University of Health Sciences, Pomona, California, where she earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. She was General Surgery Chief Resident during her residency at the Sunrise Health Graduate Medical Education Consortium. She attended the University of Miami/Jackson Health Systems for a thoracic surgery fellowship.

Dr. Chow is a board-certified general surgeon, and has been recognized with many honors, including the Dr. Peter Vajtai Award of Excellence in Cardiothoracic Surgery in 2017. She also received the Glasgow-Rubin Citation for Academic Achievement by the American Medical Women’s Association, presented to women in the top 10% of their graduating medical school class.

“I’m very excited to be coming back to Las Vegas, a community I consider home, and to be joining the excellent and dedicated team at MountainView Hospital,” Dr. Chow said.
