Pediatric rehabilitation is designed to help your child learn new ways of completing daily activities. We offer many types of therapy to help them get there.
Pediatric inpatient rehabilitation unit
Our unit is rooted in specialized programs for children under 18 years old that have suffered a severe injury or illness. Some features of our inpatient program include:
- Dedicated child life specialists
- Gym
- Minimum of three hours of therapy per day, five days a week
- Occupational therapy
- Physical therapy
- Respiratory therapy
- Speech therapy
- Trained and board-certified physiatrists that specialize in pediatric rehabilitation
- Specialized rehabilitation nurses
Outpatient pediatric therapy
Our outpatient pediatric therapy clinic includes physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy services that, when used in conjunction, can help your child enhance their abilities. We focus on children under three years old who need therapy to achieve developmental milestones after general discharge, or when they leave our Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) or pediatric intensive care unit (PICU).
Our outpatient clinic features:
- Continuous care and checkups to prevent developmental delay
- Family-centered care that involves at home programs
- Pediatric wound care, if needed
- Referrals from pediatricians for appropriate individualized care programs to improve gross motor, fine motor or feeding/speech problems
Types of therapy we offer
We employ a team of therapists with specialized pediatric training to address all therapy needs. Therapy services are offered to improve your child's ability to become independent. These include:
- Physical therapy — Works with mobility, including sitting, walking, balance, stair training and developmental aspects, such as crawling
- Occupational therapy — Helps with daily living skills, hand function and developmental aspects including coordination during play
- Speech therapy — Helps with communication and feeding skills
