Our emergency department amenities include:

  • 42 private rooms
  • Advanced imaging services for quick chest pain evaluation, including positron emission tomography (PET) scans
  • Dedicated emergency entrance
  • Helipad next to the emergency room to help transport teams get you inside fast
  • In-house laboratory and pharmacy
  • Large ambulance entrance to help vehicles offload you safely
  • Sedation-free computerized tomography (CT) scans for children, reducing the radiation dose up to 82 percent

Advanced emergency stroke care

Our primary stroke center is certified by The Joint Commission, in collaboration with the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association. This certification means our experts provide consistent care that gives us the greatest chance at the best possible outcomes for those with stroke symptoms. If you or a loved one shows signs of a stroke, seek immediate medical attention as soon as possible. Our highly trained neurological care team will be ready to evaluate you upon arrival.

Cardiac emergency care

The cardiology services team at our facility has a reputation for delivering a high level of care during cardiac emergencies. We expertly treat heart failure, atrial fibrillation (AFib), heart disease and angina, while also providing advanced care for heart attacks.

Our "rapid-rule-out" process is especially effective in guiding treatment during cardiac emergencies. We have protocols in place that helped our hospital earn recognition from The Joint Commission for high-quality outcomes in chest pain treatment.

Intensive care units (ICUs)

We are proud to offer multiple ICUs to serve the critical needs of you or your loved ones. These include medical, surgical, cardiac and neurological units.

Our dedicated ICU nurses provide care following strokes, heart surgeries, brain surgeries and other medical conditions. We have an expanded care team that includes intensivists — or critical care physicians — as well as respiratory therapists, and also provide dietary, case management and chaplain services. Our larger care team meets daily to plan the individualized care for you or your loved one.

Freestanding emergency rooms (FSERs)

Sometimes you aren't close to a hospital when an emergency arises, so we proudly offer conveniently located FSERs around the area. Upon arriving at these facilities, you will have access to the same highly skilled emergency doctors, nurses and support staff as our main hospital emergency room.

Our FSERs have the latest in diagnostic testing, imaging and pharmacy services. When advanced care is needed, our transfer team moves quickly and efficiently to get you to the nearest hospital emergency department or ICU.

Identifying a stroke

A stroke, also known as a cerebrovascular accident (CVA), occurs when there's an interruption in blood flow to part of the brain. This condition can come on suddenly, so it is important to be aware of what to look for in case of emergency.

Signs of a stroke

We recommend that you use the acronym "BE FAST" to better remember the symptoms of a stroke, which commonly include:

  • Balance — Is your loved one suddenly having trouble with balance or coordination?
  • Eyes — Is your loved one experiencing blurriness, double vision or a sudden loss of sight in one or both eyes?
  • Face — Ask your loved one to smile and check if one side of their face feels numb or droops.
  • Arms — Encourage your loved one to raise their arms and see if one feels numb or is lower than the other.
  • Speech — Watch for difficulty speaking or slurring while talking.
  • Time — When you see the above symptoms, call 911 immediately.
