Urologic diagnostics
Our doctors use various tests, including urine tests, blood tests and physical exams to diagnose urinary tract diseases. Depending on your condition, we may order some or all of these tests to determine the cause.
If your doctor suspects a potential problem inside your urethra or bladder, they may order a cystoscopy, a diagnostic procedure that uses a small camera attached to a thin, lighted tube to examine the bladder.
Treatments and surgery for urologic conditions
Depending on your test results, our urology specialists may be able to treat your condition through surgical and nonsurgical procedures. Some common treatment options we offer include:
- Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy — A treatment used to treat kidney stones
- Ileal conduit urinary diversion — A procedure that makes the intestine direct urine into an external collecting bag
- Neobladder reconstruction — An advanced robotic surgery that uses a piece of the intestine to create a new bladder, allowing you to urinate voluntarily and maintain continence after a bladder removal surgery (cystectomy)
- Nephrectomy — A procedure used to remove all or part of the kidney
- Penile implants — Devices used to treat erectile dysfunction
- Prostatectomy — A surgery used to remove all or part of the prostate gland
- Testicular cancer treatment — A procedure which may include the removal of a testicle
- Transurethral resection of the prostate and bladder — An incision-free surgical procedure used to cut away excess tissue sections
