Samir Bangalore, MD, board-certified neurologist and one of Southern Nevada's first epileptologists, was recently invited to present at The University of Chicago's NorthShore Clinical Neuroscience Conference. During the conference, Dr. Bangalore discussed a case review of a very complex patient with a condition called anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis, a rare autoimmune disease that affects the brain. Dr. Bangalore diagnosed and treated the patient presented.

Also referred to as grand rounds, the conference gathers physicians, residents, medical students and other care providers in training for education and lecture on neurological medical conditions including medical management and care planning during a patient's hospital stay.

Dr. Bangalore attended medical school at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois and trained at the hospital where he presented. The hospital was formerly part of Northwestern University.

Since 2007, Dr. Bangalore has served as the Medical Director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center, the first and only Epilepsy Center in Southern Nevada. The Epilepsy Center, accredited by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers as a level 3 center, provides access to patients with the highest level of medical evaluation, treatment and management for complex epilepsy in the area.

Dr. Bangalore is also board-certified in sleep medicine and treats patients at the hospital as well as an outpatient clinic located at 3201 S. Maryland Pkwy., Suite 220 at Nevada Neurosciences Institute at Sunrise. Nevada Neurosciences Institute Dr. Bangalore treats and manages patients 18 years of age and older and is currently accepting new patients.
