Outpatient physical rehabilitation

An outpatient rehabilitation program allows patients to stay at home during their recovery and receive therapy on their schedule. It is usually less intensive than inpatient rehabilitation.

Our therapeutic treatments and services

Cardiac rehabilitation

If you're experiencing a heart condition, we offer an outpatient program that can help you resume your normal activities as quickly as possible. (Teams in this program are known for their work with individuals who have had a catheter-based heart procedure.)

Your treatment plan is designed to assist you in achieving your goals while providing a foundation for maintaining achievable lifestyle changes. Care begins with a referral from your physician, and the program may include:

  • Diagnosis education
  • Exercise
  • Nutrition
  • Smoking cessation
  • Stress management
  • Treatment option information
  • Weight management

You will learn how to exercise safely in our supportive and monitored environment. Throughout the program, you can access both private and group classes, which allow you to better understand your cardiovascular disorder, as well as the practical ways you can manage any associated risk factors.

Pediatric therapy

Our outpatient pediatric therapy clinic gives your child access to physical, occupational and speech therapies designed to enhance their abilities. We treat babies and children up to age three, working to help them achieve developmental milestones after general discharge or when they leave our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or pediatric ICU.

Features of our outpatient clinic for children include:

  • Continuum of care between NICU stay and transition into the community to prevent developmental delay
  • Family-centered care involving parents in the development of their child with home programs
  • Pediatric wound care, if needed
  • Referrals from pediatricians for appropriate individualized care programs to improve gross motor, fine motor or feeding/speech problems
