Our gastroenterology services

Regardless of whether you need traditional, open surgery, or your issue can be remedied with minimally invasive procedures, we'll help create your path to recovery.

Diagnostic testing we offer

We use different diagnostic tools to assess your digestive tract concerns.

Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)

EBUS is a minimally invasive procedure used to diagnose lung cancer, infections and other diseases that cause enlarged lymph nodes in the chest. Tissue and fluid samples are taken from the lungs and surrounding lymph nodes. These samples are then used to diagnose lung cancer, detect infections and identify inflammatory diseases.

Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)

During the EUS procedure, images and information about your digestive tract, surrounding tissues and organs are used to diagnose conditions that may be causing abdominal pain or sudden weight loss. During EUS, a small ultrasound transducer is installed on the tip of an endoscope and inserted into the upper or lower digestive tract. This procedure typically takes 30 to 60 minutes.

Gastrointestinal surgery

We offer minimally invasive procedures as treatment options for conditions that affect the stomach, gallbladder, liver, bile ducts, pancreas, intestine, colon and rectum. These types of procedures can result in a quicker recovery time and reduced pain.

If minimally invasive procedures won't work for your specific needs, we offer traditional surgery, including:

  • Appendix removal, also known as an appendectomy
  • Colorectal surgery
  • Esophageal cancer removal, also known as an esophagectomy
  • Endoscopic surgery
  • Gallbladder removal, also known as a cholecystectomy
  • Hernia repair
  • Stomach surgery

Laparoscopic surgery for acid reflux

As a popular surgical option to treat GERD, laparoscopic surgery can be helpful if medication does not address your acid reflux. This procedure uses magnets enclosed in titanium beads that are implanted around the weak esophageal sphincter. The magnets between the beads keep the weak esophageal sphincter closed, and swallowing forces the beads to temporarily separate. Food and liquid can then pass into the stomach. This procedure typically takes less than one hour, and you can go home within the same day.

Transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF)

TIF is one method of treating chronic acid reflux and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). This minimally invasive endoscopic procedure is performed inside your stomach without incisions. It usually has fewer side effects, and a faster recovery time compared to traditional surgical procedures. The procedure is meant to reconstruct the valve between the stomach and the esophagus by blocking stomach acid from entering. It relieves heartburn, GERD and acid reflux.
