MountainView Hospital Paramedic Institute

The MountainView Hospital Paramedic Institute (MVHPI) was established in 2020 and offers prehospital professionals a 12-month educational and training program.

MountainView Hospital is the first HCA Healthcare enterprise and the only hospital in Las Vegas offering a comprehensive education and training program for prehospital professionals across the Las Vegas Valley.

The MountainView Hospital Paramedic Institute (MVHPI) is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs ( CAAHEP ) and the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions ( CoAEMSP ). It is also licensed as a post-secondary institution by the state of Nevada.

Paramedic program overview

MVHPI offers an intensive 12-month paramedic program that includes:

  • Classroom instruction (didactic training)
  • Hands-on lab sessions to reinforce coursework
  • Clinical field experiences for real-world application

After successfully completing  the didactic portion of the program, students have an additional 15 weeks to complete and pass the following remaining requirements successfully:

  • Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) protocol exam
  • Field internship
  • National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) cognitive exam

MountainView Hospital collaborates with local fire departments and private EMS agencies, which sponsor students and support the program.

Established in 2020, MVHPI’s first graduating class was in 2021.

Upcoming Cohorts:

  • Cohort 6: Begins September 8, 2025
  • Cohort 7: Begins September 7, 2026
