Baby Born Four Months Early "Graduates" from Southern Hills Hospital NICU
From one pound to nine pounds, a baby born prematurely received around-the-clock care at Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center's NICU. After five months, Baby Bentley is finally going home.
Las Vegas, NV— Southern Hills Hospital & Medical Center's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is celebrating a huge milestone. After five months of intensive care, baby Bentley, who weighed just 1lb 9oz when he was born prematurely at a mere 24 weeks, is going home.
Bentley not only celebrated his birthday on September 12th at Southern Hills, but also Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s in the NICU. The incredible nursing staff worked around the clock to provide life-saving care. His journey was long and arduous. He required full life support and remained intubated through the mid-December. At his NICU graduation, he weighed in at 9lbs 8oz. Baby Bentley and mom are doing great!
“Our Level III NICU team is second to none. They provide compassionate and critical care to newborns, like Bentley,” said Chief Executive Officer of Southern Hills Hospital Alexis Mussi. “His graduation from the NICU is a testament to the incredible efforts of his nursing staff.”
Southern Hills Hospital's Director of Women's Services, Kristin Boyle, said, “This is a moment we’ll treasure. Watching Bentley gain strength and health is truly an incredible accomplishment after being delivered so early.”
