Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
EUS is a method that combines endoscopy and diagnostic imaging to obtain images and information about the digestive tract, its surrounding tissues and organs. Doctors use EUS to diagnose certain conditions that may cause abdominal pain or abnormal weight loss.
What to expect during EUS
During an EUS, a small ultrasound transducer is installed on the tip of an endoscope. By inserting the endoscope into the upper or lower digestive tract, physicians can obtain high-quality ultrasound images of your organs.
This technique requires moderate to deep sedation to help you relax. It takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes. After completing the diagnostic exam, you'll be taken to a recovery area where your vital signs are monitored until you are fully awake.
Transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF)
TIF, a minimally invasive endoscopic surgery, is an effective solution for chronic acid reflux and GERD. This endoscopic procedure reconstructs the valve between the stomach and esophagus, blocking stomach acid from entering the esophagus and relieving heartburn and GERD. It reduces side effects and lessens your downtime compared to traditional surgical procedures.
