Local, Regional Hospitals Send Nurses to Support Colleagues in Southern California Wildfires
HCA Far West nurses unite to support colleagues at Los Robles Hospital amid Southern California wildfire crisis, showing resilience and care
Las Vegas, NV – As devastating wildfires continue to impact communities across Southern California, Henderson-based HCA Healthcare Far West Division put out a call to all eight of its Nevada and California hospitals asking for available nurses and staff to support colleagues directly impacted by the recent wildfires at sister hospital Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, CA. The call was answered by multiple nurses across the region from MountainView and Sunrise Hospitals in Las Vegas, along with Regional Medical Center in San Jose and Riverside Community Hospital in Riverside, to join relief efforts. These nurses, who have families and homes of their own, have selflessly chosen to step up during this crisis.
“The spirit of unity and compassion across our hospitals is truly inspiring,” said Annette Greenwood, Chief Nursing Executive for HCA Far West Division. “Our nurses have always shown remarkable dedication to caring for those in need, and this call to action is no exception. Their willingness to step up during this crisis demonstrates the very best of healthcare professionals. We not only show up for our patients but also for our colleagues when it matters most.”
While patient care remains intact, the wildfires have affected colleagues at Los Robles Hospital who’ve lost homes, power or are under mandatory evacuation orders. Deploying nurses and staff from the Far West sister hospitals gives local colleagues the opportunity to focus on their families, safety and rebuilding. This support not only aids the hospital but also strengthens the local community, fostering a sense of unity and resilience.
The Far West Division of HCA Healthcare has a long history of standing together during emergencies. The wildfires in Southern California have created an urgent need for additional support at Los Robles.
“The deployment of nurses from Las Vegas, San Jose and Riverside hospitals underscores HCA’s commitment to provide exceptional care during crises, not just for the communities it serves but also for its fellow healthcare providers,” said HCA Far West Division President Jackie Van Blaricum. “This collaborative effort highlights the strength of the HCA Healthcare network and the resilience of its caregivers showing up for their patients and community during a time of need. Together, we show up—because that’s what families do.”
